John Maynard Smith

John Maynard Smith, F.R.S. (6 January 1920 - 19 April 2004) was an English geneticist, mathematician and evolutionary biologist best known for applying game theory to Evolution and his role in the Williams Revolution.

Maynard Smith studied fruit fly genetics at University College London under J.B.S. Haldane and worked at UCL before helping found the University of Sussex in 1962. He wrote a number of popular science books (see below).
