Deistic evolution

From EvoWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Deistic evolution is a proposed additional category on the Evolution/Creationism continum (e.g. Isaak 2000). The category was proposed to complement theistic evolution, the difference between theism and deism being significant.

The deistic evolution model states that "God(s)" started creation, but has not interfered since. The exact arguments vary, often including a form of the Anthropic principle.

The term is not yet widely used1, with the term "theistic evolution" being commonly — and arguably mistakenly — used instead.

Footnotes
